Pure Power Mouthguard™
In Gurnee, Illinois
Serving the Chicago metro area
The athletic mouth guard has evolved from simple protection into a tool to help improve overall strength, balance, and endurance in the form of the Pure Power Mouthguard™ (PPM). What’s more is that this mouth guard can be worn by athletes whose focus is in non-contact sports, such as baseball, golf, endurance running, swimming, and fitness training. Even athletes in sports where a mouth guard is traditionally worn for protection, such as football and hockey will find that their performance immediately improves while wearing the PPM™. Those who seek protection as well as improved performance wear a mouth guard on their upper teeth, while those in non-contact sports wear a mouth guard over their lower teeth.
How It Works
Nearly nine out of ten people have some kind of misalignment in their lower jaw. This misalignment causes strain on the muscles in and around the temporomandibular joint (TMD), which in turn causes strain in the face, neck, and shoulder muscles. When there is stress and strain in the upper body, energy is sapped more than it would be if you were in a relaxed state. The PPM™ is designed to put your jaw back into an aligned and optimal position using the same principles found in neuromuscular dentistry. This branch of dentistry looks at the way the teeth, jaw and TMJ work together. By putting your jaw back into a position that it should be in, your muscles are relaxed which allows the strength, balance, and endurance you’ve been seeking as an athlete to come out.
Where to Get PPM
The dentists at Delany Dental Care are certified neuromuscular dentists, who are able to determine the optimum position your jaw needs to be in for you to perform at your absolute best. During your consultation, the dentists will determine if you are a good candidate for PPM™. This takes about ten minutes. Your next appointment will include jaw tracking or using a Transcutaneous Electro Neural Stimulator (TENS) machine to find out what your optimal bite is. Impressions will also be taken of your teeth to custom fit your PPM™. Your final appointment about a week later is so that you and the dentist can be sure the PPM™ fits you as well as it can.

- Swimming — Improves your posture and body’s alignment while you are in the water and improves your cardiovascular health, which gives you stronger strokes
- Golf — Improves core balance and keeps you relaxed for longer drives with more accuracy
- Cycling — Better alignment gives better performance, and you will improve race times and endurance
- Basketball — Helps with balance, endurance, and agility for more accurate shots and improved speed
- Hockey — Improves balance, cardiovascular health and gives a wider shooting range on the ice
