Laser dentistry uses lasers as a replacement for traditional rotary tools. Laser dentistry is used in many cosmetic and general dentistry procedures like cavity removal, hardening bonding material, periodontal treatments, and tooth whitening.

Through the use of lasers in cosmetic and general dentistry, a patient's dental visit is much more pleasant, and the amount of time needed for procedures is reduced. Laser dentistry greatly reduces the need for anesthesia because there is no heat or vibration emitted from the laser, and the area is sterilized while it is being treated during dental procedures. For patients who still require anesthesia, the amount they need is greatly reduced.

By controlling and delivering energy in the form of light, lasers can be used to vaporize different tissues. Lasers in general and cosmetic dentistry target decay, whitening enhancers, gum tissues, and enamel. These dental lasers can be adjusted so that they affect only the tissue they are supposed to remove. For instance, in a cavity removal, the laser is adjusted so that only the decayed material is vaporized, leaving more of your healthy, natural tooth intact.

For treating periodontal disease, we use an Nd:YAG laser. By using this laser during periodontal procedures, the surgery is far lass invasive and there is little or no postoperative pain.

The ND:YAG Laser is used to regrow healthy bone and tissue rather than merely remove tissue! The Nd:YAG Laser can be used to remove extra or diseased gum tissue, contour or reshape the gums, and remove bacteria in periodontal pockets. Healing time and postoperative discomfort are significantly reduced by laser dentistry.
